Tension

Tension

A Poem by Lena

The tension between you and me
Pulsing through the air separating us
Just a few steps yet milions memories apart
Late night talks playing in head
Midnight adventures replaying as I stare into your eyes
This gaze never lasts long
Too short to unscramble your emotions
Yet too long to forget you again
I’m so good at riddles, I thought I knew you but somehow I can’t solve the mistery behind your face anymore
Once sharing the smile
Now covered in encrypted strange expression
that I often mistake for hate or disgust
When did you change the pieces resolving your skin, covering the mismatched puzzle pieces taken from people you admire,
You might stare like a stranger
But I can always sense the tension.
The tension guided by temptation of saying something that we should’ve said too long ago
Waking up something that died before you realized what we’ve lost.
