What happened?

It's another little poem I've had for a while, and once again I'm using it to sort of get myself know around here.

They told me of Dragons at school, they didn't mind if I thought like a fool

They told me tales of great wonder, of pirates and plunder

I had freinds and the summers were long

But they never told me of pain and regret

They never told me of taxes and debt

and never of cost of a love that was lost, or of drudgery, frustration and stress

Now I'm a child in a man, trying hard as I can to survive in a world of crushed dreams.
