Feral, wild, self-sufficient enough to survive...curved from life's harshness and pain...yet tough as a scarab--i used to wear a scarab...you paint her solid and strong, yet with a softness underneath...that stillness...
i could really feel these words...you create wonderful images...sight, sound, taste, touch and smell...

This indeed has shades of Heaney in being able to stimulate texture and smell by the written word. This is a graphic poem though with your own stamp upon it Leslie in its pace and use of metaphors.

great caricatures of imagery in the first stanza followed by a glimpse of a moor girl's perhaps fierce veneer, her pale yellow locks of hair covered with peat..and the interlude of soft rain against the backdrop of a savage land....thank you for sharing :)
