A Poem by Leslie Philibert
"

a poem

"
When I by mistake see myself
reflected in a window, darkly.
An old man with a rabbit back
and surprised eyes. I Know ;
the next poem will be rain.
The trees outside will crowd me.

Do we ever really like what we see in that mirror darkly? Young, middle aged, old. An impressive poem.

You're very welcome.
love "the trees outside will crowd me"
the epiphany of seeing our real selves...the charade is over....

I am older...I fit this poem...although I like to pretend I am Dylan's guy--" I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now"----

I find it hard to grow old !
So full of the melancholy fear of seeing ourselves age. We only glimpse it and when we do we can't accept it as we often still hold on the the belief we are younger than we really are. This has a darkness to it Leslie, a sense of inevitability. Off to the gym now to fight off my own aging lol!
