Hello, Past Me

Hello, Past Me

A Poem by LeslieNoel

Hello, past me
How have you been?
I thought it's been a while
Every time I smile
I remember your obliteration
Through all the confusion
And the consternation
I fought
And clawed
My way through the muck
Only to get sucked back down into the mire
But I never did tire
Of pushing forward
Of pulling through
To get to the brand new you
And yet every time I look his way
He's afraid of me I've noticed today
I'll never outrun
The you that I am
As long as I am reminded
By that downtrodden man
But please remember that you played a part
Unfortunately, you hurt his heart
Made him scared
But, mostly wary
Every time you go to parry
How do I show that I'm not the you
That was known?
I know I like the brand new you
It's too bad he doesn't see it, too

The ones who matter the most will be the ones who notice the new, the rest...they are too focused on themselves.

Experience is for learning, nothing else. When the lesson is comprehended, move on. That sounds like what has happened here.
