Splattered

Splattered

A Poem by LeslieNoel

Smattered

This poem is stuck inside me,

and I feel splattered "

my insides smattered

by PTSD thoughts

that tear me asunder.

Can’t you hear

the lightning and thunder?

The term “smattered” perfectly encapsulates the mess, scattering, and splinter shattered chaos of PTSD, which is further complemented by the fragmented rhythm and the storm imagery combined with the visceral description. This piece is visceral in every sense, immediate, and raw like a wound that has not healed snarling in agony.
