Hue

Hue

A Poem by LeslieNoel

Hue

The world is strange,

bathed in a shimmering hue-

a curious view.

I feel the change

deep in my bones,

but I am scared

by these brand new tones.

When I look around,

all I can see

is this unfamiliar energy.

It’s strange-

yet similar-

like an edge-of-your-seat thriller,

in the way excitement clings to the air,

and on the back of my neck

rises bristling hair.

It’s a new consciousness

I have prayed for-

it’s just a matter

of opening the door,

taking a baby step

toward this new existence.

All it takes

is a little persistence.
