Alignment

A Poem by LeslieNoel

Alignment

I’m out of whack,

out of alignment-

I’d like it back.

My insides feel abnormal,

alien at best.

Is this some sort of strange test?

When people you’ve sided with

walk out, single file,

through the revolving door of your lif-

who does that make me,

once they leave?

What is this new mentality

I’m trying to achieve?

I’m searching for a reprieve

from a life of people-pleasing

and chasing friends.

I needed that pattern

to abruptly end.

And so it did,

when I looked through a magnifying glass

at the friends

who’ve been a pain in my a*s.

Chasing a relationshi-

is now a no go.

I’ll never stoop again

to that level below

my dignity

and self-respect.

That rule is now

officially in effect.

another good piece of work - it is genuine and clearly obvious in its intent- we must have self respect and I believe it furthers the ability to respect others and I think it could also foster a better friendship if it is to continue. -carl
