Out of Reach

Out of Reach

A Poem by LeslieNoel

Out of Reach

There is a world in which I long to belong.

It’s full of riches,

and rimmed with hues like the color of gold,

laced with the intricate promises of belonging.

But it stands out of reach-

like the forbidden fruit of Eden.

It smells divine,

scent-wrapped,

my desire entrapped

by the secrets of the forbidden.

Its riches known,

but some remain hidden

from my aching heart.

The poem feels like the kind of quiet ache people carry when they crave not just things, but belonging.
