The Silence Says It All

Look at the space

where there are no words.

They hang poised,

like a waiting piñata.

Glance behind them,

from side to side-

the expanse is wide,

where you should be filling the void

with words of assurance

that you still want me in your life.

“Yes” or “no”

would end this strife.

But the silence conveys what the words do not say.
