The War I Briefly FoughtA Poem by LeslieNoelI wish I could write a poem, But my emotions are blanched- Faded from the upheaval around me. It’s sad at first glance. I know the cause will pass soon, But until then, I’m stuck in the gloom. As feelings of doom swirl through my brain, My body reacts with lethargy and pain. So I batten down my hatches And fight against the thoughts. Tomorrow, I’ll be proud Of the war I briefly fought. © 2025 LeslieNoel |
