My Turn

My Turn

A Poem by LeslieNoel

I hear all of the announcements:

“I’m pregnant,”

“There’s a baby on the way.”

I grit my teeth and bear it.

“I’m so happy for you,” I say-

but honestly, I’m not.

I’m angry and jealous.

This anger is hellish.

Inside me dwells the green-eyed monster.

She’s scaly and green;

her permanent mood is mean.

When the hell does my turn come?

Infertility happens to some-

and I wish it happened to no one.
