Free Falling

Free Falling

A Poem by LeslieNoel

Free Falling

I took a dive off the building-

a company called Life.

The wind whips nonchalantly past my face

as I plummet past the windows.

If I reach out, then I can just about touch them,

but I am hurtling too fast.

I imagine that they are cold,

devoid of hope or inspiration.

I can see a reflection in that glass-

it’s too fuzzy,

too blurry to make it out.

Vague brown hair,

confused eyes,

pleading for sense,

reason, and purpose.

Why did the girl in the window make the choices she made?

She chose to stay

in a role that was made for her,

but her senses were clouded in doubt.

I pass through rain clouds-

their wispy gray matter fills my ears and mind.

It’s hard to find reasons,

difficult to understand

just when I will land.
