Waiting and waiting for words to appear
Pending and bending my life to cohere

Texting and texting all through the day
Hoping and moaning my fans don’t decay

My self esteem volleys on volume of “likes”
Friendships are frayed on emotional strikes

My babble buddies are airways that bounce
Of virtual value too costumed to count

Since, physical contacts feel of cold steel
I farewell all people which I can feel

Digital icons are great social replacement
For old relationships who lost amazement

Congratulate me now, I’m happily engaged
I look forward to love in a virtual maze

Your rhythm, end rhyme, and content are all so complementary to one another that you clearly demonstrate what this poem is about. This was very entertaining and a nice read.

Been there, done that; a good possibility to fall again into that trap. Our sphere of influence, our circle of friends- have been replaced by a digital menagerie that reflects but can't produce. Perhaps a hyoer-Jungian collective delusion in the making. Just a stray thought.

Those likes can be like any other addiction and completely take over ones personality and life in general. Waiting for the moment approval strikes and then needing it over and over to fill those empty spaces. There are so many consumed by it. Great job at capturing this behavior. A most interesting piece.
