I rememberA Poem by LexiThings that I remember on dark and lonely nights. Things that I would rather not remember.I remember. How could I forget? I’m aware of you lurking in the corner and obscuring yourself within my shadow. I remember. I still feel it the cold embrace of control and the rivulets finding their way into adulthood, becoming torrents roaring its way through fabrics. I remember The trembling and pounding that preceded you and I know I thanked you for the solace you gave. I remember saying we can’t do this anymore. So I dance in the sun and avoid your domain but the candlelight is starting to flicker. I remember all of the times I ignored you. Acting as though you didn’t exist anymore, but I knew the truth. I remember, how hard I tried not to remember. How I closed my eyes and sang real loud to pretend you were gone forever. I remember how nice you felt as I finally laid down and stopped resisting. I remember the blood flowing free, and I cannot wait to feel carefree as the blood finally ends me. © 2018 LexiReviews
