I Won't Scream

I Won't Scream

A Poem by Beth Lindsay
"

There are many different ways to approach your problems.

"

The days are long

Things couldn’t be more wrong

But I won’t be like you

I won’t do what they do

When the nights are long I won’t cut my wrist

When days are harsh I won’t throw my fist

When I am completely alone, I won’t look for a trigger

When it's said and done, I won’t be my own gravedigger

I won’t blame my mother, I won’t blame my father

I won’t blame my sisters or my brother

I won’t even blame an abusive lover

I won’t scream, I won’t even shout

I won’t utter a word, just see myself out

I may sigh, but that be it

Defeat I won’t admit

Though the whispers are undesirable

and living is triable

And I may not stand straight and tall

I will not be like them who fall

I will not hold my hand out and cry

You won’t ever know, and I won’t even try

I will wake up every day

Deal with the pain in my own way

Without screaming, without crying

Without bleeding, Without dying

Resilience. The quiet kind. The strength that noone sees because they cant even tell your suffering. The opposite of me haha but something i admire greatly in others. Love this.

I really like this. Its a strong person that can lean into pain and respond so graciously.
It has almost a mantra quality to it!

Best, Sunny.

Holding all that in, that frustration, I think makes you a ticking time bomb. Well written and well structured overall an interesting and meaningful poem
