Fork in the Road

Fork in the Road

A Poem by KLH
"

Been going through emotional termoil so ya.

"
Let's say my life has been following a steady path with turns and curves. I've walked that path for 19 years.

But now, I've come to a fork in the path.
I've been stuck at that fork for a year and a half.

By now...I've figured out which way I want to go. But emotions and feelings won't let me pick one over the other.

4 years of emotions and feelings...constantly mixing and bubbling, off and on.

A battle between heart and mind fight within me. Ripping and tearing. Destroying me from the inside out.

So said the girl, waiting at the fork. Waiting for the moment.
When mind conqures the broken heart.

The structure here (or lack of) is very scratchy and rough and, well, "ripping." Which is all very fitting, I prefer it.
Now, maybe it's just me but I want so very bad for the girl to be moving forward. As much as it may not be true to the writer's real life, maybe it can show hope that she does want to pick a path, eventually. We don't have to know where she goes, but, what about a last line like...

So said the girl, turning at the fork. Deciding the moment
When mind breaks the heart.

-here I feel like her deciding to move on breaks her heart even more, but her movement shows strength to rebuild and own this new path. How do you feel about being strong?
