Just to give the credits: This title comes from a spraypainted slogan that a band I love used to wear.

I hate beauty, it destroys
the last drop of honesty
Body wrap, clean mutilation -
A swan, not a raven.

It was never the mirror,
It's our mind's eye.
Mouth full of serpents -
wash the poison, hide the bite.

Acne, kill the bacteria
But don't you know,
dead cells are way better
than dead souls.

Hairbrush as your first real crush
Automatic routine - throw up and flush
A rose is not made by a single petal -
you are aesthetic debris made of
make-up powder
ashes and dust.

This poem really spoke to me about the way society bastardizes the concept of beauty. It's truly a shame what we put ourselves through to be a part of the elite class of the admired. I'd be lying if I said aesthetics didn't still grab my attention, but nothing is sexier than intelligence to me.
