King Of HeartbreakA Poem by Mercury Mirrors=/ Dedicated to the Boogieman, Don.
I’m despised by the king of heartbreakers & cheats
Who bends my back till it snaps to make me kneel at his feet.
The angry, spiteful glares he casts me now are all but sweet.
If I speak out now, his fist is all that my lips will meet.
He grabs my hair, & spits hatred in my tearstained face.
Slaps me around, pushes me down & tells me I’m a disgrace.
All the promises & dreams he whispered are now replaced
With screams & insults designed to cut deep & profanity laced.
The blood in my mouth has a bittersweet, metallic taste.
My cheeks are sticky with tears that coat my fingers like paste.
People pass me by, watch me cry, mutter “What a waste…” How can he spend so much time on me, then rush away in such haste?
