Dream Fairies

Dream Fairies

A Poem by E.A. Standifer

Dream Fairies come and take me away. I'll walk with you through whatever shadows; just please don't make me stay. The night has come too soon. I can't see the light of day. I can't take the glare of the moon so fairies, please. Please take me away.

A troubled soul don't rest easy. A heavy heart's off beat. An unsettled mind will wander. And neither one of these will meet in the middle. Can't give myself a little peace. It's like even when I'm awake, I'm dreaming. But I can't get the luxury of sleep.

Dream Fairies come and take me away. I'll walk with you through whatever shadows; just please don't make me stay. The night has come too soon. I can't see the light of day. I can't take the glare of the moon so fairies, please. Please take me away.

Tell me, what is this world to a dreamer? What is "it is" to "it seems"? What is a definition to a feeling? What is "I say" to "I mean?" Today could never live up to tomorrow. Not the tomorrow that I've made in my head. Now has got: cynical, possible, gravity, and sorrow. I think I'll think of later instead...
Dream Fairies come and take me away. I'll walk with you through whatever shadows; just please don't make me stay. The night has come too soon. I can't see the light of day. I can't take the glare of the moon so fairies, please. Please take me away. Please take me away. Please take me away.
