My Mind Wanders

A short poem about nihilism, materialism and romance, in that order.

Die, die, we could all just die,
Nothing would be better, nothing
would get worse.
One less sentient species to observe
the Universe,
And we could all just die and die again.

Live, live, we could all just live,
And pretend that this life is of our
own design,
Live long and prosper, dress divine,
And we might maybe try to live again.

Love, love, we could all just love,
Bathe in the rivers, let them take us far,
Tear off our skin so we can be
who we are,
And hope that someday, we will learn to love again.

This a lovely, thought provoking and powerful work of poetry. The cadence of it and the way it flowed was impeccable, and it was so easy to read; it was like you were telling a story with so few words and painting a picture of reality for us.Very well done! :)
