A Cold Night to Remember

A Cold Night to Remember

A Poem by Iris Crow

" A Cold Night to Remember"

by Iris Crow

They drop like flakes.

They drop like stars.

Like tears from one's face

One after the other.

One by one.

They all reach the ground.

Perished and Forgotten.

Except for what was left behind.

Fire and Smoke.

Ash and Bones.

The sky screams with bloody shades and tones of red.

Clouds dark and heavy.

Mimics what is left to see underneath it.

Houses as empty charred cavities.

Roads as veins drained from their blood.

Schools, farms, factories, stores. Left as decayed organs.

The village bare and naked.

Left as a burnt corpse.

Dead as the Cold Night.

Yet, it rages with the enemy's fire.

Within that fire withstands the raging souls of the lost lives it took with.

Courage. Strength. Bravery.

Unity. Loyalty. Honesty.

Ambition. Love. Sacrifice.

As well as the Pilot that lead them,

Their embers for raging freedom, will never die.

A Cold Night to Remember.
