The Barefoot Lass

The Barefoot Lass

A Poem by Lucas Djaroyan

Skipping barefoot upon lush ripened loam;
She gambols along from dawning to gloam.
Oh what a beautiful sweet urchin lass,
Romping about in the tall verdant grass.

An orphaned ragamuffin without home,
Skipping barefoot upon lush ripened loam.
Savouring youth, like a bud not yet grown,
Bouncing in flowers and moss-covered stones.

Her green tattered frock wafts through the air,
Along with the curls of her gold unkempt hair.
Skipping barefoot upon lush ripened loam,
Merrily prancing in the flourishing brome.

Her frolic beguiling to my hypnotised eyes,
Like a blooming enchantment passing right by.
Together we shall callowly lollop and roam,
Skipping barefoot upon lush ripened loam.
