GazeA Poem by LuciaInspired by Nietzsche's quote "Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you."I have long lingered within the realm of the abyss, enamored always by my emptiness- the void reflected and my eyes made endless, my travels therein became a skill perfected. For only by the weight of my wandering will and only with the gravity of its loss did I find myself encumbered at last by the shadows of purpose and the promise of cause- I would capture the chasm consuming my soul, I would wring the void dry and by the ink of my toil forge beauty from sadness with ensnaring verse- my pain but a path now made to traverse. Illuminating my sorrows so that I may know warmth, using words to soar so that I may know worth- constantly robbing my wings for the quills with which my monuments to madness were built. © 2018 LuciaReviews
