Longing for Release

I think of love, and my heart sinks deeper
into a damp and decaying grave of darkness
Faded visions haunt this wounded mind
tearing at it, plucking piece by piece
until it is left frayed and in tatters
a broken remnant of time past.
My inner being begs for one moments relief
from the constant flashes of memory
that invade its secret, sheltered corners
Rusting that which once, shined with crystal clarity
and shouting curses that echo off walls
that have long since become covered in dust.
Thoughts, lying scattered on the floor,
like dried and withered roses,
become suffocated in a thick blanket
of dense mist that is my despair.
I long to be released from this life
to be set free from this torment
that chains my blackened soul

True angst. Keep writing through it. Again, honest and true. I love the lines, "Thoughts, lying scattered on the floor like dried and withered roses." Beautiful and true. Much like, "I look at the floor and I see it needs sweeping; Still my guitar gently weeps." I couldn't think of anything much deeper off the top of my head. Sorry. Really nice to read.

Such an overwhelming cloud of despair that seems to dance over mind and heart... those reflections to all that is now only memory... So painful to read...
