Soul mates

Is wishful thinking

But what if it isn't?

What if everyone has one?

 

But is that bond there for good-

That oh so specifically special bond?

Or can it fade from neglect?

Be broken with betrayal?

 

I thought I had found my soul mate

Long ago, once upon a time...

But what I felt is gone, broken

With so many betrayals it stings.

 

So if that soulmate bond IS there-

And once upon a time mine was broken-

What will happen to me next?

Will there ever be another? or just that ONE?

 

Will I have to settle for someone

Less than a soulmate, hoping that they

Do not find theirs and leave me

To be with that oh so special person?

 

If everyone has one and you lose it

Do you get a do-over? A second chance?

Will it only be that one soulmate?

Or hopefully, will there be more?

 

I wonder...

Is it soulmate? or soulmates?
