Discernment

Discernment

A Poem by Luminous Lynx
"

The difference between judging wrongly and judging righteously.

"
See that fire in my eyes,
to find the truth in a world of lies.
Lies can hurt deeply the recipient behind the scenes,
no one ever daring to come clean.
It is dangerous to believe what is popular for that is not always the truth,
no one ever dares to search deeper down to the root.
For you see just another person painted as perfect and idolized,
but I see a person in pain and unceasingly scrutinized.
Questions need to be asked that are genuine and compassionate,
not always surface level to get past the counterfeit.
Don't be afraid to speak up when something is wrong,
someone else may join in and help the weak become strong.
Help give a voice to the voiceless,
a song to the hopeless.
Lies can tear apart those that considered themselves to have a strong friendship or cause,
but without discernment or questioning the sources they are destroyed, torn apart, disregarded, even the justice system laws.
Where is the justice for the broken and despised,
those who don't understand their need to be accepted or otherwise ostracized.
Where is the justice for those always changing to conform,
never being truly accepted by the trends or in the patterns of this world.
Well in any case I have the truth and the truth lives in me,
I searched for him and found him and he has set me truly free.
Indeed when I searched for him I found him when I searched for him with all my heart,
he stood up to the lies and has set me apart.
Called to be a light for those in the darkness I will not remain silent,
even though there are those bitter against the truth and violent.
The truth calls me to have discernment,
to be innocent as the dove and wise as the serpent.
To be slow to anger and quick to forgive any transgression,
slow to speak and quick to earnestly listen.
To put others before myself, not pointing out the speck in their eye
and then neglecting the log in my own.
For how you judge you to be will be judged,
so we must not jump to wrong conclusions, spreading lies so overblown.
Discernment is knowing the difference between judging wrongly and judging righteously,
standing up and rejoicing in the truth, loving not the lies spread so unkindly.
If I am to be a light, if am to truly stand for what is right,
I must first understand what is wrong and love others in God's love, helping them find where they truly belong.
For man looks on the outside, but God looks at the heart.
He exalts the humble not the prideful, he gives grace that is sufficient for those who are slain.
He rejoices in the truth and in those who do justice, for with the Lord no tear, no work for good, is ever in vain.
