Tomorrow

Tomorrow

A Poem by Lydia Shutter
"

just another Manic Monday!

"

artwork courtesy of etsy.com

The rainswept street
         now polished with puddles
intrigues me
                   my mind
                                marinated in humidity
watches a butterfly as she kisses
that perfect blossom
                          at my wits’ end
I promise myself
I’ll only rewrite this line of poetry
                                      one more time
unfortunately today is not the day
to pass go or collect $200-
           nope

the Reading Railroad
has canceled the 7:00 train
and the hotels on Boardwalk
are booked for the night
                        so fiddle dee dee
                along with Scarlett
I guess I’ll worry about most everything
                                   tomorrow

Oh yes.. sometimes a situation is only as dire as we perceive it to be. The cancelled train and streets full of polished puddles might not be that bad after all. I'm just like you...I leave all the worrying to tomorrow....never allowing it to ruin my night's sleep. Wonderful poem here, my friend....making those manic mondays a bit more bearable.

Sounds like a Monday with little coffee intake. Some days we just don't manage to get anything done. Yet, there is always tomorrow... well, usually there is a tomorrow ;)
Well done, Lydi.

Absolutely, Julie. Pleasant dreams. Thanks for your review. Lydi**
Yep, it's when the mind marinates in humidity that one becomes unable to complete thoughts as they just become vapor floating above streams of steam. (or is it the other way around?) We try to recover from the "weekends" of our mind but it seems as if we are unable to get that room on the boardwalk - just love the references to "Monoply"...clever!
Yes, fiddle dee dee and ho ho hum!!!

Mondays are manic
but Lydi. don't panic
for Tuesday will rescue you soon.
Those maniac folks
with unfunny jokes
will melt with the light of the moon

Sounds like a Monday for sure... Thankfully, tomorrow is always right around the corner.
I really loved your opening image in this piece -

The rainswept street now polished with puddles intrigues me
my mind marinated in humidity watches a butterfly as she kisses that perfect blossom...

Wonderfully penned, Lydi!

Fortunately Lydi, there is always a tomorrow. Fortunately for us you wrote this one. A fun little romp with you on a manic Monday or a maniac Monday...depneds on how you look at it.
