salty winds of change

salty winds of change

A Poem by Lydia Shutter

“An Aspiring Actress Arrives In Hollywood” by Janet Hill

i tasted the salty winds of change

while leaning on the lamp post of desire

my past and present roads

                     intersected sensually

unspent fantasies jingled in my pockets

stars chattered about it all

till the sun awakened with a smile

all because

          you tied a sensual melody

                  around my dreams

beautiful poem, lydi...has your tag with the style...
i wonder how many aspiring actresses never made stardom, but really had the talent, just not the right connections to get there.

and nice to be tied up by sensual melodies.

made me think of Herman's Hermits with the "leaning on the lampost" line----

"i'm leaning on the lampost on the corner of the street in case a certain little lady walks by, oh me oh my, in case a certain little lady walks by"

I think the painting matches this poem perfectly. The salty winds of change - translate into Pacific Ocean - hence Hollywood for me :)

This is so lovely, and sad at the same time. Dreams. Many never fulfilled.

Thank you, KL. Lydi**
Loved this poem Lydi...it has great imagery and what I liked best was the youthful feel to it. The lampost, the jingling pocket the melodies all hint of a great romance just round the corner. I like the winds of charge too. They signify freedom and emancipation to me. A great poem with a difference. ..

Ohh yeah i am in a phase of tasting the salty winds of change :-)... But sometimes the desire is worth the risk....Like Jacob said its good to give in to pleasures sometomes... The leaning on the lamp post mirrors the casualness yet its a sensual image..... The jingling of pockets says how restless it feels to wait to fulfill the fantasies..... Ohh i was drunk with pleasure here Lydi :-)... Happy new year . God bless you
