Humaness

Humaness

A Poem by Lydia Shutter

artwork -- Modigliani reproduction

The night expanded
to fit my container of emotions
I fell in love with the sound

A breeze on its way to certain oblivion
ran through the folds of my skirt
I fell in love with the feel

A trail of tears evaporated
and was quite impossible to follow home
I fell in love with the sight

Words tumbled through my psyche
winning gold medals for my country
I locked the container of my mind tightly
lest I be blinded by the melee
of excruciating humanness

There are so many ways your message states the most imaginative concepts, I'm without words to comment adequately. First, I love the way each of your stanzas highlights one of the physical senses. But the descriptions in the first two lines of each stanza defy expectation to the nth degree! Each part of your message summons a dozen ideas before landing on one that fits best.

Thanks, Bill. I appreciate your review. Lydi**
What a beautiful sadness fills your words, your thoughts so painfully poignant. So much life floods this world of humanity, and all we feel and see through your eyes.

Being human and being part of all else that affect on us and our emotions is not easy as the wonderful writer states. It is excruciating for it is impacting us in a way or another. A gorgeous and truthful write on humanness....:).........

Always my pleasure Lydi! Love ya kiddo. ~SP
dear Lydi, humankind is being comfortable
in your own skin... wearing comfortable clothes,
but trying to be fashionable. A surgeon dresses
for the operating room, but still he is human.
I never tire of viewing nature. I love what I see
and I believe in reflecting the beauty of nature.
The melee of the world is too much to bear,
so I try to bring joy to those I meet. Your poetry
inspires me to enjoy being human and helping humanity.
truly, Pat

Your poetry defines the humanness in us all, Lydi. You always come up with the most ingenious of writes of which I am most enviable of. Bravo, and welcome home!

' The night expanded.. to fit my container of emotions '

But.. In my book, 'Humaness' is being aware of where one is in the Now of life. Every sense is alert, every breath and heartbeat felt as if it's for the first time. Maybe i've misinterpreted but for me, you've expressed that by discovering what should be known if one allows it to be.

the senses of humanness ....and no matter how tightly we lock that container...emotions will seep out...

i love the oxymoron of "excruciating humanness"
i am glad i am human...even if the emotions get into fights with each other.
