next year

A Poem by Lydia Shutter

fall has danced behind calendar pages

carefully, in a mood born of december
i follow a trail of crushed soda cans

to an island in my stream of consciousness
i’m officially as blue as the clear sky above me
the slap of the sun on my cheek brings it all into focus
     the pending parties
          useless euphemisms
               myriad of memories
suddenly, realizing i am the one writing this script
i grab a handful of smiles from my emergency shelf
     wrap myself in bubble wrap
          and vow to return smiling next year

happy healthy 2016 writer's cafe!

we are the main authors of our lives, the kind of season/mood in our minds can be created by us - to live better every coming year, full of love, hope and kindness - the bubble wrap sounds nice, a promise to be a source of happiness for others

Thank you Lydi!! May you also have a happy healthy 2016 writer's cafe!! Your words remind me to put the past behind me and look for the good in the new year! We just can't escape "time" no matter how hard we try! Dang, life just plain hurts! It is up to us to accept our fate, or get lost in the pain of it! It's comforting to know there is one who is trying to accept the good and the bad and find a bit of joy! I am with you, wrapping my arms 'bout you to help deal with it!!
