love lives

a poem i repost on valentine's day each year

love lives

in a room without doors

a room redecorated daily

no need to straighten 

those brightly colored paintings on the walls

there is a certain loveliness to their asymmetry 

a romantic paradox as it were

passageways lead to and from this room

but no one is quite sure if they are a means of escape

or a route to romance

personally

i want to stay in this room always

where laughter is true

dreams are treasured

and poetry blossoms

For me, this captures the true essence of what love should be. If it is true love, it doesn't need a day to mark it, it just IS. I always got the feeling from you that you have had this type of love in your life, and it is why your words ring true, and not at all like a false greeting card. Anyone can write sap, but you can't feel the emotions coming through the lines unless they are real. Beautiful.
