tonight 

the breeze runs its spindly fingers up my legs

sure it's winter, but this is south florida

shorts are the order of the day

the moon's halo has a special luminosity

i find myself staring longingly at it

allowing myself to bask in its glow

because, hey, it lights the way to bliss

right?

i'm not dwelling on past mistakes tonight

just telling myself they were opportunities

i suppose it's like

staring at weeds and pretending they are flowers

or finding the empty bag of chips in the pantry

then being happy i won't gain weight

no i can't change the world

but i can change the color of my nail polish

and that makes me happy enough

let me think bliss is just around the corner

because tonight the moon is telling me that's okay

Your title should be our mantra to life, accepting the moment for what it is, instead of our usual to do list rumbling in the background of our mind, which in itself stops these moments from being truly immersive.
We may only cause the briefest of ripples on the greater scheme of things, but who is to say that these moments were intended to be our greater scheme, where distractions of being interrupted cease to be so important and the moment envelops us.
Apart from the obvious, where your words bring joy and comfort to both reader and owner, adding a little more beauty to the bigger picture, i find the idea of acceptance being found within the maelstrom of being, enchanting and mesmerising, as well as a pretty healthy place to find yiurself in.
It is 7am here, as i sit on the porch in pitch darkness with my coffee, wishing those same sentiments to Mr Moon and Ma Nature... to be free to enjoy such moments and looking forward to their return.
I suppose if it wasnt for work and all the other drudgery modern life insists are compulsory, then maybe we would be bored with these perfect moments and long for a little more chaos in our day...
Or perhaps not.
Your words entice us to see more of these moments for ourselves, and know that its okay we aren't setting the heather on fire, which is just as well because burning heather smells disgusting 😀

Have to admit, I have never whiffed heather burning....and now that is something else to be happy about! :) Truly we have to stop and stare at the loveliness of the world sometimes....because all too often it is overlooked. I hope you do have more of these moments. Thanks for the in depth review...and don't work too hard.

Dear Lydi**, your lines speak to me of how the little things in life can give the greatest pleasure. A cool breeze on a hot day, the bright petals on a pretty weed. There are flowers everywhere for those who look. Only too often we do not see the beauty underneath our own noses. As I age and have more time, I observe more and I am thankful for that. I miss less.
