I love the revelation of the third verse, which paused me into contemplating such an obvious statement once it is heard, that we still have the now to write about and memoirs can wait until we are done with the now and can think back to all the whens. Perhaps memoir writers have ran out of news to write about.
And yes, don't those scars become battle scars of where we used to be compared to the now?

Of course I still do, but if I catch myself harking back i insist on thinking about something coming up to make up for it.
I was only thinking midweek past how as a kid, growing up would be great and id have chocolate for breakfast every morning. But then I realised I was harking back to yesteryear so to set it right I had a chocolate croissant with a Hershey bar chaser. I showed that pesky reminiscing! 😃
We can't stop time dear Lydia. We learn to accept and appreciate. You told a real story. Thank you, dear friend, for sharing the amazing story and poetry.

Oh Lydi - you will never be on the sidelines. You are one in a million and your poetry speaks to the heart. I'm so glad I stopped by to read you today. I hope all is well in your world.
:) Julie
Your words are so very you and think I've known you enough years to know the happy, positive woman you are. Things in life happen, for sure, but you have a mind that works on the principal that life is what is it.. take it or walk away back-straight as punch then go on, however somehow.
Third verse reads so very well, common sense and pride - a mix and match truly worth remembering. Happiness and a truly wished long way from that mist. x
I for one hope you never choose the sidelines (and, hopefully, never stop sharing your wonderful writes). Love the rhyme and the "frolic" of this one. Well done. ~Jim
You have so much to tell now, no time for memoirs... what you say may be a mixed bag, but most of your outlook is upbeat, hopeful..... lovely
Warmly, B
oh so true Lydi ... I'm blessed in the reading ... all of us here are leaving our trail of memoires ... every poem we share has a piece of us in it ... whether deeply hidden or outright ... the plain speech of this one endears it to me ... there is no guessing the intent and the poetic lilt to the closing verse blooms for me ... thanks for sharing my friend

Good for you, Lydi! Too many give up too early and continue to exist but not live. Life can be rough but it can still be enjoyed, no matter what. Oh, and by the way, good rhyming.

Such an inspirational write Lydi**. So much positivity in your chosen lines. I particularly admire your word choice in your final stanza. All good wishes to you.
