sidelines?

sidelines?

A Poem by Lydia Shutter

the crow’s feet around my baby blues
are things to be ignored
far too many places and people to see
no way will i be bored!

watching life from the sidelines
has never been for me
judging me is not fair
till you spend time in my company!

sure, i’ve been through some battles
and they’ve left ugly scars
but i'm still writing my personal story
no time to publish my memoirs!

when the day vanishes into mist
and when the sun shines to a happy tune
my head and my heart still sing along
not going anywhere soon!

I love the revelation of the third verse, which paused me into contemplating such an obvious statement once it is heard, that we still have the now to write about and memoirs can wait until we are done with the now and can think back to all the whens. Perhaps memoir writers have ran out of news to write about.
And yes, don't those scars become battle scars of where we used to be compared to the now?

Oh Lydi - you will never be on the sidelines. You are one in a million and your poetry speaks to the heart. I'm so glad I stopped by to read you today. I hope all is well in your world.

Your words are so very you and think I've known you enough years to know the happy, positive woman you are. Things in life happen, for sure, but you have a mind that works on the principal that life is what is it.. take it or walk away back-straight as punch then go on, however somehow.

Third verse reads so very well, common sense and pride - a mix and match truly worth remembering. Happiness and a truly wished long way from that mist. x

I for one hope you never choose the sidelines (and, hopefully, never stop sharing your wonderful writes). Love the rhyme and the "frolic" of this one. Well done. ~Jim

Jim, you are so kind. Thanks so much. Lydi***
You have so much to tell now, no time for memoirs... what you say may be a mixed bag, but most of your outlook is upbeat, hopeful..... lovely

oh so true Lydi ... I'm blessed in the reading ... all of us here are leaving our trail of memoires ... every poem we share has a piece of us in it ... whether deeply hidden or outright ... the plain speech of this one endears it to me ... there is no guessing the intent and the poetic lilt to the closing verse blooms for me ... thanks for sharing my friend

Good for you, Lydi! Too many give up too early and continue to exist but not live. Life can be rough but it can still be enjoyed, no matter what. Oh, and by the way, good rhyming.
