dawn-less

dawn-less

A Poem by Lydia Blackwell
"

this was written last fall

"

Sometimes the days

match the nights-

greyness lingers

 like a lost love.

Pouring out of the sky,

it fills in

all the feelings.

The dull ground begins to shine-

it's colors deeper,

slick and cold.

leaves litter a quilt of debris

then curl

 to hold the rain.

But sometimes a new day

does not dawn.

It sleeps in seclusion

behind a curtain

of clouds

nursing the ache of old days

that should not have been.

So I toss

and turn

and wonder when to wake.

And my dreams pass like strangers

behind the glass

that not even I can touch.

Very nice arrangement of seemingly two ideas. I agree with, Julijana, I love that line! I love your thoughts and your choice of words to describe them.

About
I have been writing since I was a young girl. I love to write because when I describe something in detail, it helps me remember the way things looked and felt. Sometimes, your memories are all that yo.. more..
