Date

Date

A Poem by M. J. C. Mata
"

A pitiful situation for my character. If you could place yourself in his shoes, you will feel tha same way he felt.

"

Amidst the rain a bus goes by.

I'm right inside, all prim and dry

I'm on a date and on my way.

I'm running late, that's sure to say.

A blissful evening it's supposed to be.

My lovely Anne I can dreamily see.

My suit is crisp, I made it sure.

My flowers' fresh, my love's sweet lure.

I'm in trouble, I know right now.

If there's a way, I don't know how.

Of all the things that mustn’t go wrong

Was the blasted fact I napped to long.

Caught a glimpse of her, thought I did.

A desperate decision was my bid.

I leapt from the bus and to her I ran,

But it was just the gown – worn by a man!

I'm cold and wet way down the bone.

I guess I'll spend my date alone.

I'm three hours late and my date's gone.

It's my misfortune, it's now all done.
