SOUND IN THE DISTANCE

© Michael Franz Whitby

Automotive sound: Sound of thunder, of distance rain

Sound of children, in love discussions…

duck may quack in flight with their squawking

The dog that barks - the bark of deep resentment towards the neighbour’s cat

Foot steps on concrete

Bicycle, tricycle, skateboard, roller blades on hot summer asphalt

Lawn mower, weed eater, leaf blower

The neighborhood sounds like the big smoke - the smoker’s cough

Distance ice-cream truck - the most infamous bell

Police in response to a 911 - the race of unwritten game

Between the police and fire trucks

As the average 24 divides into its’ second half…

twilight gives way to night

If one joins at twilight - the sounds would be so different

From the sound of the morning, while you are coming on board for the next 24

Others are getting off theirs…

as sound changes, modern technology of the surveillance is always present

Helicopter; the train of 100 units serve to the sound forever

The truck and their drivers instill habits of sounding horns

All these sounds are now a part of our average 24…

we should give thanks - thanks that our senses

Allowances unto us to separate the differences

Closing of the door to your home…

gives way to a totally different sound

Because ones’ car also gives the same reaction to the senses…

keeping the sounds alive

Life experiences continues to let humans know

We need to spend more time outside

In the so-called first world, that we now buy into

These sounds stimulate the senses

We need to stimulate the senses by getting back to basic

To the sound of nature

Where senses can regenerate without continuous echoing of abrasive sounds

A place that we can rehabilitate and remember

As the 24 rotates - it depends on the time that you may join

At that time you will witness that particular happening

The happening of sound

reversing forward, future is history!
