lips smudged with lápiz labial
hair disheveled, eyes barren
you dance around heated glares
rocking Basilio and hugging Crispin
like an ulirang ina

hele hele tulog na
mahal ko, matulog ka na

your lullabies resounding
irking Guardia civils
laughter chimes in every children
calling you

Author's Note

This is inspired from a character from Rizal's novel entitled Noli Me Tangere which is Sisa who is the deranged mother of Basilio and Crispin. Though I know I wasn't able to portray her better. Photo not mine. CTTO
