Chapter (4) A CHRISTMAS FIRELIGHT MEMORYA Chapter by MAD ENGLISHMAN
A CHRISTMAS FIRELIGHT MEMORY
The daylight fades and the
night descends, And our little house is
locked and safe from harm. I sit with my mum on the old
sofa, and watch the flames as the
fire keeps us warm.
Decorations sway and twinkle
in the gently light, While outside the night brings the Christmas snow. Our old brown dog sleeps and
snores by my feet oblivious to the spitting
log’s sparkling show.
Upstairs my siblings dreaming
of a special morning. Christmas stockings hung by
their beds, and in their heads across the
snow filled skies Santa’s sled with Reindeer
flies.
Now in the bed I share with
my sleeping brother, I can hear my mother as she
greets my father home. Tomorrow the house will fill
with noise and joy, and drifting into sleep I
think of the day to come. © 2017 MAD ENGLISHMANReviews
