The Quest

The Quest

A Poem by Madhusudha
"

A seeker seeing her own self, lost in the day to day living

"
I set out, determined to find
My lost soul, so long left behind

Only wish my search had begun sooner
Well, they say, better late than never

When did I lose her? I wonder,
Where could she be? I ponder.

How could I have let this happen?
{Did she escape being trapped in?}
or
Did she disappear when I was sleeping?

Should have guarded her with my life,
Now, the loss, it cuts through, a sharp knife,

Caught up in the mindless chatter,
I failed to notice her loss and laughter.

No longer can I bear to part with her
My quest unceasing, until I meet her.

My dear soul, where do you wander,
Search I will, then surrender.

And once I bring you back, will I
Learn to come alive, to fly.

For with you within me,to tend,
There would be no need to pretend,

You are the Truth, I strive
In You, I come wholly alive.

A very accomplished first draft it is on a most important quest.

Just wonder about 'happen' and 'nappin' - that seemed a bit dissonant in the context of the rest of the wording.

The last lines lift the poem to a sublime spiritual dimension:

You are the Truth, I strive
In You, I come wholly alive

very astutely put.I went with that word only for the rhyming and hope to find something that doesn't.. read more
I like the feeling your words convey; repentance, strong resolve.
"And once I bring you back, will I
Learn to come alive, to fly."
One line I love...for a first draft its quite. Now let's pop some popcorns, cross our legs and sit back for the rest...

I used to write when I was much younger but lost touch with it. Now I have resumed writing and more than anything I feel more alive than I have been in all these years... more..
