Sleepless Heavy Heart

Sleep, I need'ja

but my heart won't let me meet'cha

my tears won't let me see'ya

and the night won't let me free'ya

And even when I'm dose'n

my heart just chills me frozen

tear drops keep my eyes open

and my mind won't stop its roam'n

Hush now, my eyelids are gettin' heavy

my heart can't protect the broken levy

my tears are slow'n now I'm ready

to give in to sleep's hypnotic med'ley

When the mind is wandering to the wrong places and thoughts. Hard to find sleep. I must meditate to find sleep. Some mind can never rest. I liked the way you used the language. Thank you Margie for sharing the amazing poetry.

Coyote, I have to meditate also. Sometimes, I have to turn on ambient sounds like rain to drown out the other bothersome noise in my mind. If it is something that has troubled my heart, then she doesn't sleep easily until I calm her. Sometimes, a late night poem or story will work. Otherwise, I have to be careful what I watch, read, or listen to just before bedtime, and that is in the fortunate occasion that I am actually in control of the stimuli. As always, I'm very grateful for your feedback.

Hi Chris. It is nice to meet you as well. Thank you for the compliment. It is amazing how writing styles and phrasing can change according to how a person feels in the moment. This was an actual experience, and for some reason, it ended up having a bit of a hip hop rhyme and time.
