Be Good To Her

It's a poem of love and blues.

Although you’re going to marry the woman that I love,

I’m man enough to give you my best wishes.

And I hope you’ll have a wonderful life together.

 

The closeness that she and I shared was like no other.

I can’t imagine how she chose you over me,

But if you’re the one whom she truly loves, just be good to her.

 

I’ve always loved and adored this beautiful woman.

She brought incomparable joy to my world.

So when you steal the heart of my angel, be good to her.

 

After the preacher has pronounced you man and wife,

Please continue loving her and treat her kindly.

Don’t break any of the promises you make to her.

 

I’m afraid I must decline the wedding invitation,

For my heart will sink when she makes her vows to you.

And my tears will fall when you walk away with her.

 

I’ll take my great loss and bow out gracefully.

If she finds happiness with you, it will console me.

Take care of my darling; just be good to her.
