Some reflections on starting or ending a relationship

In Between

 

Stilled for a moment

By emotions writing themselves into consciousness.

I sit on the stairs,

Halfway between one floor and another,

And welcome this emerging quiet.

 

I think of you and these three weeks,

Undecided what meaning to give them,

Unaccustomed to making such choices,

Unclear whether to love you,

Or not.

 

Moved by you, but myself unmoving.

On the verge of change, yet unchanged.

Willing to embrace, frightened to let go.

 

Quiet.  Still.

In between.

I love this- sitting halfway between floors as a metaphor for halfway between feelings- do you go upstairs, stay downstairs or stay sitting in the middle (on the fence)- homes/rooms/spaces are a reflection of their owners/inhabitants...just go with the flow of the walls and don't question whether a room needs redecorating! This makes me think of Billy Fury "Halfway To Paradise"...so near yet so far away. You have found something so just enjoy the moment of being in every room in the house!!! ;)
