A chess game that changed my life

Coming Back Stronger...

I got selected into a chess competition at a school,

Making my talent better, like a screw fixed by a tool,

I played, played there but I kept losing,

Speechlessly, don't know what pieces I am choosing.

The opponents were good, at last 2 by 6 points,

How much it disappoints,

4th position, got a small trophy,

My parents were normal,

I didn't felt so holy,

Yet there was one person who guided, a friend.

She helped me, comforted me, made me smile,

Played with me, putting a piece tile by tile,

I had another competition at one of the best schools,

Only one chance there,

I needed to win, I couldn't bear.

I played for restless nights,

For a trophy so bright,

In the school, I played with no mercy,

I got 2 out of 3!

3th position it was, got a trophy and medal,

My dream was to now put my foot on the pedal,

And ride through the challenges, to reach the beginning of a wonderland,

Called Chess,

I did my best,

How happy I was!

I didnt get to write here for some time cause of those competitions, and please tell me if I have some spelling mistakes!

Martiya, I love chess as well and I loved your poem! As for spelling errors, I only noticed one.
For: “I didn't felt so holy” I think you meant to say, “I didn’t feel so holy”

You certainly did try your best and consequently, have offered a unique poem about a unique game - CHESS! Your meter is a little off but no matter, precision can sometimes cripple a piece and better to use prose poetry now and again, don't you think. Will return to read more of your poetry, you use unusual themes and that offers an adventurous read for which I THANK YOU. :)
