FROM LIGHT TO LIGHT

FROM LIGHT TO LIGHT

A Poem by Maumil Mehraj

         FROM LIGHT TO LIGHT
A numb body, a tired soul
I lay on my bed, waiting for the guest to come.
My eyes are open, or am I dreaming?
who knows? For my life could have been a dream.

A whisper, a touch, silent sobbing
A sudden realization of being near my dear ones
They disappear-or is it me who has vanished?
Some questions have to wait for the answer.

No light - utter darkness
Deafening silence, yet complete bliss.
Desires and wishes remain no more,
a strange aura of nothingness.

I see the light again - a faint glimmer,
it multiplies tenfold, blinding my eyes.
Adjustment takes time, meanwhile I dream of
all I had been doing while i was alive.

Moments later, perhaps after eternity,
nothing happened, but something surely did.
I was again with my people,
in a place I knew not.

But the people were as if from a long lost memory.
Yes, the ones who had died before me.
No preambles, no greetings. They took me with them
to a dwelling they had made on  "the other side of light"...

The poem is like a soothing lullaby and is perhaps your best poem out of the ones I've read till now. It is so meaningful, so deep and truly a masterpeice. :) The title is also very well chosen. I loved it! :)

A numb body, a tired soul
I lay on my bed, waiting for the guest to come.
You've painted the picture of a person dying very accurately and yet very peacefully. Great job! :)

My eyes are open, or am I dreaming?
who knows? For my life could have been a dream.
The vague uncertainty of death and that of life itself has been portrayed so clearly in these lines. Beautifully written. :)
They disappear-or is it me who has vanished?
Good question. You've told the story gradually, peacefully and absolutely truthfully. The quesions you've asked are so genuine. Hats off! :)

No light - utter darkness
Deafening silence, yet complete bliss.
Desires and wishes remain no more,
a strange aura of nothingness.
Wow! A welcome feeling. You've expressed this excellently! :)

Very intriguing thoughts expressed really well. :)

These lines are simply superb! The paradox is great. :)
