FORBIDDEN

FORBIDDEN

A Poem by Maumil Mehraj

"FORBIDDEN"

In the day she breathes,
the world around her seems real.
The ocean, she grants life
to beings - great or small.
But at night, a profound sadness engulfs her,
for she sees the forbidden love of her life.
Her damp arms long to touch him,
but the moon is miles away!
He looks at her in awe,
the dazzling light they cast together.
But silently knows,
that it will be long before they meet.
The ocean promises not to cry.
But when she does, her tears cloud the sky,
and cast a veil that separates her from him.
But they do know that the universe favors those who love.
So they wait, wait patiently,
for the day they will unite!

many thanks Ana!
This poem is excellent. The imagery is wonderful, and it is rich with mythology, taking the reader to a place beyond the cerebral, and into the heart.

A beautiful piece of longing... oh how the ocean is drawn by the moon's presence and bathed in it's light... such beautiful imagery... well-done!
