Ennui

Ennui

A Poem by Mayank

Eyes glued on a screen

I see,

Dimwit comedian

Reigning Machiavellian

Corrupt leader

Lame actor

Pathetic pop singer

News reader

Making headlines

One after another.

In isolation,

 I see the future

Overqualified

Lethargic

Robotic

Chaotic

Idiotic

Hedonistic

Mechanically I cease

Dirt, that I breath.

Fingers on joystick

Prescription of pills

Same ol’ pornography

Rollin’ blunt

Where’s the c**t?

We don’t need to hunt

Naked in the front

Publicity stunt

This existence is perplexed

With ennui, died significance.

This one is inspired from the song Fear of Blank Planet - Porcupine Tree.

Hi Mayank :)
This is a really powerful free verse.
Nice touches of rhyme, love the 'ic' ending words half way through - very effective.
A relatable rant.... a lot of my unvoiced thoughts here - you could be poking out pieces of my mind!
Just noticed one typo - 'dirt, that I breath(e)'
Nicely done - look forward to reading more.
Kindest regards, Debra :)
