Just a nod

It just vanished like a dream

I really tried to listen to the lesson

But my eyes seemed to see the lovely world of dreams.

I really tried not to nod while the teacher was talking

But my head seemed to find my desk as comfortable as a pillow.

I could still hear my teacher's voice

But it seemed faraway.

I tried to understand the lesson

But my brain couldn't seem to function well.

Temptation was really hard to resist.

I supposed that one nod wouldn't seem wrong.

But as I tried to shut myself from the world,

My wonderful wish just vanished like a dream.

My heart was suddenly filled with dread as my teacher said

 "Get one fourth sheet of paper. We will be having a quiz."

I supposed that was really my fate

But seriously, just how hard my life can be?

I was so oblivious in class once, I asked my social studies teacher if the nuclear weapons freeze (in 1982; yes dear, I am that old *laugh*) would affect the weather where we were in NY :-D Great fun to read, this...thank you for sharing it.

Nice poem. Very relatable, this happened every time in my first hour class last year. How I passed that class, I don't know.. Anyways, I liked your description and wording, "My eyes seemedd to see the lovely world of dreams." I don't know why but that statement jumped out at me. I thoroghly enjoyed it. :)

I fell asleep in Gross Anatomy class. Front row... I got called up in front of the class and scolded well. Never have been so embarrassed. It happens for sure.
