Forgive

Forgive

A Poem by megalOmaniac
"

Mourning the loss of a loved one, not necessarily to Death.

"
A gloomy day it is..
The sun does sleep yet still..
Just as you sleep..
Though much against my will.

In happier days you would
Laugh that deep yet silver laugh,
All that snuffed out and more,
The breeze a little off..

By your side I've waited now
An hour and a year,
Bottled up I suffocate.
Unshed a single tear.

The wind caresses my hair,
As it shivers through the grass..
Yet the lily upon your grave
Still, as my distant past.

She bowed her head before me.
Then back upright she stood.
The wind felt no love for her.
Two souls. Misunderstood.

I bent a little closer,
Unmoved, she watched me now.
"Is that you?", I whispered,
Disbelief upon my brow.

I moved yet closer still,
Plant'd a kiss upon my Lily's head.
She blossomed momentarily,
Then withered, and then, was dead.

"Let me go, let go, my love"
The whisper on the breeze,
I walked away in silence.
My senses now at ease.

This reminds me of some of Poe's poems in which he mourns the loss of his lover. Not as macabre, though.

Like so many other people, I, too am looking for a place where I belong. I'm not exactly bubbly and I certainly am NOT a social butterfly. I prefer to keep to myself, in this perfect world that exists.. more..
