It Offered Something Nothing Could

Falling I could never see the light

I watched as day turned to night

Failing, I never grasped the flame

Blame was engulfed only by shame

Watching, never to do

These are the days I would always rue

To myself and others useless

And to all the same worthless

So I sat and I would listen

Hoping to find something that might glisten

When a faint whisper carried to my ear

And it held something that was most dear

At the end of my rope

It offered something nothing could-
